Greetings to our First Grade Friends! Here are some expectations for First Grade.
Reading
Your child should be able to read high frequency words, read with fluency and write simple stories. They should be able to write five or more sentences that relate to a topic of theme. They will learn how to spell words.
Math
Adding/subtracting and understanding numbers up to 99, tell time to the hour and half-hour, recognize coins and their values, simple fractions, and measuring are all concepts we will learn in our Houghton Mifflin Math.
Science
In Houghton Mifflin Science we will analyze, predict, infer, compare, contrast, and observe many different science concepts.
