Welcome to Third Grade!
Mr. Behe, Mrs. Connolly, Mrs. Conrad, and Miss Milliron are the third grade team of teachers. We would like to let you know our expectations from your child this year.
Reading
Third grade is an important year in your child’s education. It is important to read every day. Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) is a school wide program that we are using to increase your child’s fluency and comprehension.
Math
Concepts that we will cover in third grade are: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, measurement, data, geometry, area, and perimeter. Our big expectation is for students to leave third grade knowing their multiplication and division facts. It is important for students to practice their facts daily.
Content
The content portion of our daily schedule includes Science, Social Studies, and Health. In the area of Science, the students will be exposed to biological science where they will learn about living and non-living things in their world. We will also cover Earth’s landforms and our solar system. In the area of Social Studies, the students will be discussing map skills, Native Americans, and Blair County history. The students will also be learning about how to take care of themselves and discover how their bodies work in the subject area of Health
