Hi, my name is Jim D'Angelo, and like most of you, I live in the Juniata section of Altoona with my wife and 3 children (all boys). I have worked for the Altoona School District since 2003 in the field of Health and Physical Education.
Much attention has been directed to physical fitness during the past several years. Research shows that children should incorporate regular physical activity into their everyday lives. Besides building strength and aerobic fitness, regular exercise relieves stress, provides motivation, facilitates sleep, and promotes better attendance and improved efficiency in school.
The Altoona Area School District Elementary Schools encourage physical education to develop the coordination of fine and gross motor skills as well as toning of the body muscles through a rigorous program, which stimulates the cardio-respiratory system. Good sportsmanship is also a primary focus of our physical education program.
BEHAVIOR RULES FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS:
1. Participate to the best of your abilities.
2. Respect the teacher, other students, and yourself.
